The Farmhouse Kitchen

by: Jennifer “Jenn” Boyd

Designing for life..

Dreary kitchens boxed in and tucked away from the rest of the home are no more. The kitchen has become the central gathering place of home-sweet-home, as well as defining the design of its adjoining spaces.

The farmhouse kitchen is the trend for a comfortable, lived-in look of gathering central. Open shelving can showcase beautiful dishes, glassware, and antique treasures as well as being easily accessible for cookware. The featured custom open shelving with LED under cabinet lighting were built, painted, and stained at our shop, as well as the custom vent hoods. Open shelving was the perfect design and function remedy for awkward upper cabinets set below a sloped ceiling.

Cabinetry resembling pieces of furniture helps to create an open, homey environment as well as adding additional work space We custom designed and built this island for a client that works from her home kitchen. The island provides work space, storage, and is wired with electrical outlets on both ends for convenient appliance use. Shelving can house recipe books as well as decorative treasures.

Comfortable gathering space is much needed in the heart of the home. Adding an island with bar stools or an island with built-in bench and table seating provides a cozy resting place to nibble and chat while working in the kitchen.

Our design and install team would love to help in planning and building a custom kitchen that both meets your work space needs, as well as beautifully reflect the style of your dream gathering place.
